27th ESV2023 Overview
The International Technical Conference on the Enhanced Safety of Vehicles (ESV) has been held in different countries on a rotating basis every two years since 1971 on the suggestion of the United States Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), official government agency responsible for the implementation of the ESV Conference. The 27th Conference (ESV2023) will be held in Yokohama for the first time in 20 years.
The ESV offers an invaluable opportunity for government representatives, researchers and engineers from around the world to meet and discuss and exchange ideas on policies and technologies specific to the safety sector, such as crash safety technologies to protect vehicle occupants in an accident and preventive safety technologies to prevent accidents before they happen, as well as autonomous driving technologies and safety technologies for vulnerable road users (pedestrians and cyclists) and motorcyclists. Through this conference, advanced safety technologies will be disseminated to the world and it is hoped that a safer and more secure transport society will be built.
